Museums

Whenever we talk about south Tyrolean museums it is noticeable that there is always a known local behind it.

The famous Ice man - our Ötzi! He is currently in the archeologically museum in Bolzano. There you can find the most famous mummy of the world, his cloths and tools  - www.archaeologiemuseum.it

Reinhold Messner, the well known mountaineer. He is the one who is responsible for many museums whenever we talk about mountains. Right next to us  we have the MMM Juval and the MMM Firmian at the castle Sigmundskron close to Bozen. www.messner-mountain-museum.it

The Museion, only opened its doors in 2008. It is the place to go for modern art exhibitions. Already the building itself, with is amazing glass construction is a visit worth.  Alois Lageder, a famous South Tyrolean winemaker, is one of the initiators and president of the foundation www.museion.it.

Sisi, the empress of Austria, originally Bavarian, used to spend her vacations at the Schloss Trauttmansdorff. Those times the tourism started in our region - in the Touriseum you can discover all about the history of tourism www.touriseum.it

Those are just a few worth to mention, however there are so many more interesting museums such as the Frauenmuseum „Evelyn Ortner" in Meran,  the Südtiroler Obstbaumuseum at the Ansitz Larchengut in Lana, the Städtische Museum in Meran and the Landesfürstliche Burg in Meran.
